How to Protect Intellectual Property
When you publish an original logo, content, design, or trademark of your company, products, or services, you have intellectual property ownerships of such items. Intellectual property is very valuable, acting as your business’s identity. However, there are malicious entities who will try to steal that from you.
To protect your intellectual property, you need to officially register it through the intellectual property office. In your website, put a separate page stating that you own copyright of all materials in your site. Also, regularly search the Web for sites using your trademarks, content, and articles without your permission. If your search turns out to be positive, you need to contact the site owners right away and tell them about the infringement. If they do not remove the copied content, take screenshots, consult with a legal counsel, and file a case. Finally, you would also want to notify search engines when you see illegally copied material. Usually, they will help you and remove the links automatically from the offending site.
